Junipero Serra Building

The 500,000 sq. ft Broadway Department Store was constructed in 1914. It has classically white terra cotta street elevations with Chicago style windows and a large sheet metal projecting cornice. The State of California purchased this National and State registered Historic Resource to house more than a dozen state agencies. John Ash Group served as the historic preservation architect on the design build team. The greatest preservation effort was on the full restoration of the building's historically significant exterior.
